Getting Started

Installation

  1. Download GroovyScribe from groovyscribe.groovycode.xyz
  2. Open the downloaded .dmg file
  3. Drag GroovyScribe to your Applications folder
  4. Launch GroovyScribe from Applications

First Launch

When you first open GroovyScribe, you'll need to:

  1. Grant Screen Recording permission (for system audio)
  2. Grant Microphone permission (for your voice)
  3. Download a transcription model (we recommend "Base" for most users)

Recording a Meeting

Quick Record

  1. Click Start Recording or press ⌘⇧R
  2. Your meeting audio is now being captured
  3. Click Stop Recording when finished

Audio Settings

  • Microphone: Select your preferred input device
  • Capture system audio: Check this to record computer audio (Zoom, Teams, etc.)

After Recording

Processing Options

  1. Transcribe: Convert speech to text
  2. Identify Speakers: Separate different voices
  3. Generate Summary: Create AI-powered meeting notes

Summary Types

  • Executive Summary: Key decisions and outcomes
  • Action Items: Tasks and assignments
  • Technical Details: In-depth discussion points
  • Quick Recap: One-paragraph overview

Export Options

  • TXT: Plain text transcript
  • SRT: Subtitles with timestamps
  • JSON: Structured data for developers

Tips & Tricks

Best Recording Quality

  • Use a good microphone when possible
  • Minimize background noise
  • Ensure stable internet for virtual meetings

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • ⌘⇧R: Start/Stop Recording
  • ⌘S: Save transcript
  • ⌘E: Export options

Managing Storage

  • Recordings are saved to your chosen location (default: ~/Documents)
  • Delete original audio files after transcription to save space
  • Transcripts are tiny compared to audio files

Troubleshooting

No Audio Captured?

  1. Check System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Screen Recording
  2. Ensure GroovyScribe is checked
  3. Restart GroovyScribe after granting permissions

Transcription Taking Too Long?

  • Larger meetings take more time
  • "Tiny" model is fastest but less accurate
  • Close other heavy applications
